HIS GLORY in the Hard Places

Hello Disciple!

This morning I was reading Genesis 28, and I found the chapter very interesting.

If I were to write a book, the title would probably be ROCK–REST–REVELATION–ROAD. That may be too long and not very appealing for a blog post title though. :)

Jacob is a fascinating biblical character from whom we can learn a great deal. His turnaround in life did not happen quickly, even though he had powerful encounters with the MOST HIGH GOD. He went through very HARD TIMES before becoming the person God wanted him to be.

In the case of Obed-Edom, it was a quick transformation — just three months in the PRESENCE of GOD, and everything went well for him thereafter. But for Jacob, it was different because his ASSIGNMENT was different, since his descendants would become a blessing to all the families of the earth.

I noticed a certain PATTERN in the lives of those who went through the “HARD PLACES.” The result of that season in their lives brought them to a place of becoming RESILIENT, RENEWED, and TRANSFORMED for a PURPOSE.

Normally, during TOUGH TIMES, we can become very short-sighted. We may throw in the towel, grumble, murmur, complain, or run away when we face difficulties and when things become uncomfortable or do not go our way. But when we begin to see the DIVINE DESIGN and the DIVINE ORCHESTRATION behind our situations, our RESPONSE can become very different. As we yield to HIS PROCESS, it produces the FRUIT of the SPIRIT in us.

Look at the BIG PICTURE of what the LORD is doing in us. Yield to HIM for HIS deep work in our hearts and minds. You will find HIS GLORY in the HARD PLACES.

Let me end with this verse:

2 Corinthians 4:17
“For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory.”

Shalom!

(Scripture references: Romans 5:3–5, Colossians 1:11, John 14, 2 Cor 3:18)
