Hello Disciple,
Good Morning!
Yesterday, we touched on the topic of how we can enjoy PEACE in the PRESENT by LOOKING at our FUTURE that is already in our PAST. At first, this may not seem to make sense, and that is understandable. For more context, you may want to read yesterday’s blog post.
Today, more and more people are becoming physically, mentally, and emotionally exhausted, and not always because of outward circumstances themselves, but because of the STRESS and ANXIETY those situations produce within us. Naturally, one of the first responses is to seek medical help and support, and there is absolutely wisdom in that.
However, we must also look at the deeper ROOT of what is happening within our hearts and minds. A TREE is known by its FRUIT. Stress, Anxiety, and Worry (SAW) often reveal that we are leaning too heavily on our own understanding instead of FULLY TRUSTING GOD in our situations. Many times, we carry burdens we were never meant to carry alone.
So here is a BIBLICAL KEY to overcoming “SAW”: practice THANKSGIVING.
Whenever anxious thoughts begin to overwhelm you, PAUSE and begin to THANK GOD in that very moment. You may even want to write down specific things you are grateful for and offer them to your HEAVENLY FATHER in prayer and thanking HIM for your GLORIOUS FUTURE.
As we practice THANKSGIVING consistently, our minds begin to renew and our brain is rewired with new patterns. These new patterns will help us to respond differently under pressure. Instead of being consumed by fear and worry, we learn to ATTACK our situations with FAITH, GRATITUDE, and TRUST in GOD.
With intentionality, we can turn from “SAW” to living in AWE of HIM.
“In everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God.” ~ Philippians 4:6
