FEELING-CHECK
Good morning Friend!
I hope we have woken up this morning with life and energy to face a new day. That means, dear friend, we still have hope to live better today and to expect a better future. Be encouraged the world has not collapsed on us. So, take it easy! Chill!
Often, we wake up to a new day with overwhelming feelings of sadness, loneliness, stress, or a sense of being stuck in our situation for a long time, unable to break free from it. My friend, most of us go through such seasons. We may FEEL TRAPPED and unable to “UNSTUCK” ourselves, so to speak, like walking through a dark tunnel with no light at the end.
I once read an article written by a neurosurgeon who explained that feelings are essentially chemical events in the brain, they are not always facts. Yet, many of us tend to believe our feelings as the truth. Studies even suggest that a large percentage of our feelings are unreliable, often shaped by past experiences rather than the present reality.
Do you know that our REPEATED THOUGHTS influences our BRAIN to generate CHEMICAL events, which in turn produces our FEELINGS? In today’s world, we tend to give more importance to our feelings than to truth. Most of us base our decisions purely on how we feel in the moment.
Just today, I read a heartbreaking story about two sisters who tragically felt compelled to end their lives. They left a note explaining that they had planned this all along. It’s difficult to comprehend how such precious young lives could be so misled and act based on their overwhelming feelings.
How can we overcome a “FEELING-ATTACK”?
When thoughts and feelings arise within you, CHALLENGE them, question their source and their content. Do not immediately embrace or believe them. Instead, let your RENEWED MIND do a THOUGHT and FEELING-CHECK. Do not ACT immediately on your Thoughts and Feelings. PAUSE, check it out before you believe and react to it.
In Philippians 4:8–9, we are instructed to have THOUGHTS that can produce healthy feelings in us.
"Keep your thoughts continually fixed on all that is authentic and real, honorable and admirable, beautiful and respectful, pure and holy, merciful and kind. And fasten your thoughts on every glorious work of God, praising him always."
Let the Word of God shape our Thoughts & Feelings. See you in my next post.
